Athens, Greece Day Trip Itinerary
If you have only one day and want to see the sites, we recommend following this itinerary to maximize your time.
9:00 AM – Start the day by visiting the Acropolis, one of the most famous landmarks in the city. The Acropolis is a hilltop citadel that contains several ancient buildings, including the Parthenon temple.
10:30 AM – After exploring the Acropolis, head over to the Agora, an ancient marketplace where philosophers, politicians, and merchants used to gather. The Agora is now an archaeological site with ruins that date back to the 5th century BC.
12:00 PM – Take a break for lunch at a local taverna. Greek tavernas are traditional restaurants that serve authentic Greek cuisine, such as souvlaki (grilled meat skewers), tzatziki (cucumber and yogurt dip), and moussaka (a baked eggplant and meat casserole).
1:00 PM – In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Olympian Zeus, one of the largest temples in ancient Greece. The temple was built in honor of Zeus, the king of the gods, and features massive columns that are still standing today.
